Our Long Story Short
In the early nineteen-eighties, the garment district of New York City was a very different place than it is today. By day, there were manufacturers everywhere, streets full of garments on rolling racks and trucks lined up, unloading and loading goods. It was constant as well as fast-paced and it was into this environment that my father, Francois, began to work in this industry. There were custom garments made onsite in his store. People busy cutting, sewing and stitching all day, while leather and suede were being sold by the hide. As the old expression goes, "all things must change", Gone are the sewing machines and most of the manufacturers, but the materials remain.
In 1999, Francois opened Leather Impact, Incorporated with the intention of continuing to provide high quality leather and suede materials to the wholesale and retail markets. He had an enduring belief that there would always be a need for high-end hides and even if the customer base had changed dramatically, there would still be a customer. In the fall of 2002, Francois passed away unexpectedly. For all who knew him, he was all good things we seek in a person. As his son and a lover of these goods, I have made it my purpose, along-side my invaluable manager, Marina, to continue this operation's legacy of quality, reliability, and professionalism.
Leather Impact, Incorporated has provided leather to every trade imaginable and that has made it all the more exciting; from high fashion to casual wear, hotel lobbies to private jets, rock stages to hip hop stages, red carpets to Broadway, horse saddles to sports cars, beauty pageants to boxing rings, law enforcement to private citizens seeking custom materials for custom creations. The list goes on and on. What an amazing experience it has been for us to work with such a diversity of industries and individuals. To all, we truly appreciate you for making us what we are. Thank you for your business. Leather Impact will be working with a talented local artist, Santiago, who brings decades of experience in artwork on materials, to help create one-of-a-kind items. These items can be requested in alternate colors, sizes, and layouts.
Our goal has been the same from the first hide that was ever sold all those years ago: to provide the highest quality leather and suede to all who require such materials. We have always been eager to sell one hide or one yard of trim but, have the capabilities and experience to accommodate productions in excess of ten thousand square feet of material. No purchase is ever taken for granted. Please allow us the opportunity to prove that we are your best choice for all of your leather and suede material needs.
Respectfully,
Demitri
